Third Sunday of Advent
Sermon Text: James 5:11
We should be steadfast in faith like Job; but you might not think Job is the picture of steadfastness. He cries out in suffering and voices severe complaints against God. But Job is merely being human. We all hurt when evils of the world come against us, whether it be the stresses of Christmas, economic and political issues, or losing your loved ones. But Job shows us hope. Even though he went through grave suffering, he still placed his hope against hope in his Redeemer coming to set things right. That is exactly what we do when we look forward toward Christmas. Christ is coming into the world to save us from the world’s evils. And it is not just for Christmas. Christ is coming in the end to undo the power of evil that we may have eternal joy.
