Midweek Lenten 4 (Sermon)

Sermon Text: Judges 16:1-22 (Betraying Faith)
There is a betrayal in the story of Samson and Delilah, and it is like Christ’s betrayal by Judas. Judas received Christ’s grace, knew Jesus was his loving Lord, and still decided not to repent of his sins so that they led to Judas betraying Jesus. Samson hardened his heart like this too. God gave Samson grace, showing the man His love, and yet Samson continued to sin over and over which resulted in Samson betraying God. Samson told Delilah how she could cut Samson off from God’s love and grace; severing salvation. We know the Lord’s love for us, and we witness it when he continuously forgives us. Our Lord journeys with us by placing life and love within us. Yet, if we were to start counting our sins as unimportant or think we don’t need to confess them to God, that is when we harden our hearts into unbelief. There is hope for those who do this, just as there was hope for Samson when the Lord started offering grace to Samson after his betrayal. The grace of God is received with a heart that repents and sincerely turns to God.
