Fourth Sunday of Easter

Sermon Text: Acts 2:44-45  (Christianity vs Marxism)

The early Church had all things in common. This means they had Jesus, his forgiveness, love, and all other blessings shared amongst them and then they acted in light of this. Some people think this is communism, but not exactly. Since Marxism pervades modern communist thought, let’s compare Christianity and Marxism. Who do we worship? Christians worship the Lord who sacrificed Himself on the cross for us and continues to give us the fruits of this salvation. Marxists trust in the collective of people above all things, including the government as it’s representation. Christ works for you, but you have to work for the government. Who are we? We are sinners whom Christ needs to help spiritually. Marxists don’t take into account the spirit and try to solve the spiritual problem of sin by altering worldly society–which has always resulted in more sin. How should we live? Christians live with Christ at the centre of their lives for their help; Marxists live hoping if they communally share goods, this will order the rest of their lives.
