Micah 5:2-5a

Sermon Text

Hebrews 10:5-10

Gift-giving feels obligatory on Christmas, which means these are not “gifts” but things offered by custom and rules. But when God gives us gifts, such as life, these are given freely out of love for us. We try to give something freely back, but all we have to offer are obligatory, and also apologetic for not doing what God wants in the first place. Therefore, God gives to us the gift of Jesus who offers his own loving life in our place. He is the great gift we need to receive and to give.
