Fifth Sunday in Lent
Sermon Text: John 11:1
Jesus goes to raise up Lazarus while those in the area seek to kill him. Therefore, Thomas declares, “Let us die with Christ.” He obviously doesn’t understand that Jesus is THE Resurrection and THE Life. Any attempt to kill Jesus will result in Christ rising and anyone following him, like Lazarus, are already living eternally. We should proclaim, “Let us LIVE with Christ.” Death has no part with us. Christ has resurrected us from lifelessness in sin to eternal life. So, let us act like we are alive in him, defying the world threatening us with death, whether from human or natural causes. But living with Christ is not just about facing death, it is about devoting each day to being alive in Christ and doing what is good in his name. Let us live with Christ.
