Sermon
Christ is the Light in the beginning who created all things. Although the darkness tries to overcome the Light, it can never do so. We see this in our day. Christmas was hampered by poor weather in Victoria this year but the good news of Christ and his salvation for us. The original Christmas suffered horrible things too: a wicked king who sought to kill infants to keep his throne and unfaithful religious leaders who were leading people away from God. Yet, the Light of Christ shined through this darkness. He was born. He grew. He died on the cross and rose from the grave from our salvation. These facts are etched into history. They are still true today. We are saved in Christ. We may face remnants of darkness–evils in the world–today but these are shadows that are about to be cast out by Christ’s Light. When he returns into this world, he will bring us into the world to come which will have no shadow of evil there.
