Third Sunday after Pentecost

Sermon Text: Exodus 19:6 (Kingdom of Priests)

God makes us a kingdom of priests. What is a priest? Someone who can go directly to God. The Lord has made us holy so that every prayer we render unto Him will be heard and He will bless us in the name of Christ. What kind of priests are we? The kind of priests who aren’t pastors. God raises up qualified men to preach and teach in the office of holy ministry with Word and Sacrament. This is not given to all people in the Church. What is given to us is to go to our Great High Priest, Jesus Christ, without any intermediary and receive his life and salvation won for us by his priestly sacrifice at the cross.
