Lenten Midweek 5

Sermon Text: Judges 16:23-31 (Sacrifice and Love)

Jesus and Samson willingly die, but this was not because they chose death. They chose sacrifice. Jesus sacrificed himself for us that we might live and Samson, as a soldier (imperfect motives aside), was dying for the salvation of his people. With Christ, we have an example of sacrificial love that we should have. How much should we sacrifice? Well, enough to be living sacrifices where we count our own lives as important to uphold the lives others, but are willing to sacrifice our wants, efforts, and possessions to help our neighbour.
