Sermon Text: Jeremiah 31:15-17
Herod slaughtered children to retain his throne, looking to his self-interest over the lives of others. Abortion is another life-or-death decision where 99% of cases are elective abortion is for the interests of the abortionists; often in the interest of their finances, free-time, or work. Similarly, we may make choices at the cost of others’ livelihood and wellbeing to protect our interests of finances, time, and work. Yet, Christ does not do this. He came out of love into this world as an innocent baby–innocent in the sense of being without sin and never sinning–and dying on the cross for us, just as innocent and loving as he was on Christmas Day. His love guides us away from seeing death as a solution for our problems by solving out problems with more life. Death is not the answer for us; the life and love of Christ which guides us into eternity will always be the answer we seek.
