Exodus 13:1-3a, 11-15

The text in Exodus might seem an odd one to reference since it talks about consecrating the firstborn babies of a mother to God. However, this consecration makes the firstborn heir of the family also an heir to the whole of God’s creation. Sadly, we have forfeited our inheritance to the creation by sinning against God and His works, but Christ has not. Jesus is consecrated to God and when we are baptized into Christ, we become coheirs of creation alongside our Lord.
